You asked, we answered

From time to time we’ve been asked just what is PNC-Minnesota, what do we cover, and how can people contribute.  We’d like to take a moment to answer a few questions.

What are we?  What do we cover? In addition to this, we are your hometown news source for the Pagan community.  We would like to eventually offer most everything you would normally find in your town’s newspaper and on tv.   This is a pretty tall order.  Even at the basic coverage we know provide, it is an extremely time intensive project handled by a few volunteers.  To do more, we need more people helping out.  As we get more people assisting, we can begin to expand our coverage.  To be frank, right now we have too few people trying to do too much.  We are missing stories because we can’t physically get to them.

How can you help? You could be a regular reporter.  Or a photographer.  Or you could send us a Letter to the Editor when the mood hits you.  Perhaps you have a story idea or editorial that you would like to write, but don’t want to do it regularly.  That’s fine.  If you are part of a group, contact us about what is happening in your group even if you think it may not be newsworthy or that big of a deal.  We would love to publish your wedding/handfasting announcement, or the birth of a child, a Wiccaning announcement, notice that you have been initiated or achieved your 3rd degree.

How else can you help? Tell us what you would like to see more of.  What else can we do?  What would you like to see?  Is there something that other news organizations do that you wish the PNC would do?  In other words, talk to us and help make the PNC-Minnesota a more valuable resource for you and the rest of our community.

You can contact us through the website, you can leave a comment, or you can email us directly at pnc.msp@gmail.com.

Community Grandfather Seeks Kidney

After 42 years of practicing, Ken Ra has trained about 80 Wiccans, and there are about 300 of his lineage. He has continued to be a pillar of the community through personal adversity. Ken Ra has been a major player in making this one of the greatest Pagan communities in the world. To this day, despite his health problems, he continues to teach four classes a week; three in Wicca and one in Magesmithing, all are free.

Now, Ken Ra needs a new kidney, and you can help. Ken has signed on with the Paired Kidney Program through Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Kidney Transplant Unit. If he can get someone to donate a kidney, (whether it’s a match for him or not) then someone else in the program can get him a kidney. This will drastically reduce the wait, which is usually between 3 to 5 years. Ken needs a kidney sooner than that.

Pagan Elder Survey

Author M. Macha NightMare is asking for Pagans across the world to participate in a 10 questions survey on eldership in contemporary Paganism. The survey results will be used in a paper Macha is writing. Responses will be collected until January 15, 2011 and she hopes that Pagans will not only fill out the quick survey, but will circulate it through their communities.

You can click here to take the survey.

Statement from PNC-Minnesota

Recently, the board of Harmony Tribe made some serious and public allegations about the PNC-Minnesota bureau and our coverage of the Sacred Harvest Festival in their Open Letter to the Harmony Tribe Community dated Friday, September 24th.   After an internal investigation, with the assistance of PNC-National, we have found no basis for those allegations.  We sincerely wish the board of Harmony Tribe had contacted the PNC prior to the public meeting held on Friday, September 24th as we are sure this matter could have easily been cleared up.
