New Council Brings New Theme to SHF

Harmony Tribe announces new theme for the 2011 Sacred Harvest Festival,  Forest Family: Root and Branches Intertwined. New Council says theme changed due to attendee feedback.

PNC-Minnesota spoke with Jude K,  Marketing Director of Harmony Tribe, about why the theme was changed and what this means for the festival.  Jude says the old theme, Dreaming the Fae, was confusing to some festival goers.  He says people didn’t understand what it meant and questioned if enough rituals and workshops focused on the Fae could be created.  There was also concern about the precision needed to successfully and safely perform rituals honoring the Fae.   “I honor other religions and would not want to disrespect their ways. We thought making people adhere to extremely specific ritual protocol would take away from the joyous and easy going spirit that we try to establish at the Sacred Harvest Festival,” explained Jude.  He also said that the Council board wanted to make the festival more inclusive to all Pagan paths.

Harmony Tribe Meet and Greet – Sat. Nov. 13th

HT Meet and Greet,  Saturday,  November 13, 2010,  4:00-6:00 pm at the Sacred Paths Center 777 Raymond Ave. St. Paul MN .  All are welcome.  Come and meet the new Harmony Tribe Council and find out what we are all about. The Meet & Greet includes a Pot luck feast and social time to converse with fellow pagans.
Express  what you would like to see and experience at the 2011 SHF. Tell us what you liked about other SHFs or even what you liked about other festivals you’ve attended. Help us select the 2011 Sacred Harvest Festival theme. We promote a community experience and focus our energy on providing a unique spiritual experience.  You can obtain information about becoming a member of Harmony Tribe and join at the M&G. We will have information about submitting art work for consideration for the 2011 festival.

What brings us together:

While many among us explore diverse and various Pagan religious paths including Shamanism, Wicca and other Earth-based and Earth-friendly beliefs, we all share the same common ground philosophically and spiritually. Come and experience creating something beyond yourself: the building of a tribal community! We welcome all who embrace nature spirituality in some form. Acceptance is our desire; tolerance, respect and love is our rule.

Emergency Measures Passed for Harmony Tribe Elections

Surprise announcements from the current sitting board of Harmony Tribe, the organization that produces the Sacred Harvest Festival each year, of their withdrawal from running for board positions on next’s year’s board placed the October 16th election in jeopardy. The withdrawals resulted in most board positions having no one running for the seat and no way to fill those positions under current by-laws.

The organization’s by laws require nominees for the board to be a member in good standing for at least 6 months out of the last 2 years. Notification and absentee ballots were also to be sent out 14 days in advance of the election. With only seven days until the election and the limitations on nominee eligibility, it was doubtful Harmony Tribe could fill the open board positions.

Today the board and Tribe members met in an Open Meeting to address those election concerns. Several emergency measures were introduced and approved by the Tribe to address those issues.

The Tribe suspended all elections by-laws and policies for just this election cycle and created an election committee empowered to quickly create election guideline and run the election. The Election Committee is comprised of Michelle Hooker, Robin Kinney, Lynne Petros, Mary Oczak, and Carol (last name not used on request) The committee made arrangements to meet directly after the Open Meeting.

The election will still take place starting at 2pm on October 16that the Sacred Paths Center and nominations will be allowed right up until the vote takes place for that position. The eligibility requirements were also altered to allow any voting Harmony Tribe member to run for office as long as they are a paid voting member by tonight (October 9th) at 11:59PM. Absentee ballots will not be sent out to Tribe members, all votes must be cast in person or by phone during the allotted voting window on October 16th. Election Referees were also voted in. They are Michelle Hooker, Robin Kinney, and Lynn Petros.

The sitting board promised to work with the incoming board after the election to ensure a smooth transition.
