Call for Submissions for a Pagan Fiction Anthology

The Scribing Ibis: An Anthology of Pagan Fiction in Honor of Thoth (Bibliotheca Alexandrina) is now accepting submissions. They are interested in short stories which feature the Gods, Goddesses, heroes, holy days, traditions, and practitioners of every Pagan path. Any genre — from science fiction to mystery to fantasy to romance — is welcome. Stories ranging from an ancient murder mystery featuring Hermes, to a devotee of Eir working at a modern hospital, to Pagan colonists adapting to life on an alien world, to a retelling of a myth are all appropriate.

They are also interested in a *limited* number of nonfiction essays concerning Pagan literature, but ask that you query the editor before submitting an essay to make sure that it will work for this anthology.

Length: 100 to 10,000 words.
Submissions Period: 1 January 2011 through 30 June 2011.
Projected release date of August 2011, in both print and digital formats.
Contributors will receive a coupon code which will allow them to purchase three copies at-cost. Like most of BA’s books, a portion of the proceeds from the sales of The Scribing Ibis will go a worthy charity in the name of Thoth.

Please send all submissions, questions and comments to baeditor@gmail.com

Pagan Perspectives on Marriage Survey

Charlton Hall, a licensed marriage and family therapist and an American Druid, is conducting research on Pagan attitudes towards marriage.  The survey is short and should take less than five minutes of your time.  Mr. Hall is hoping for as many responses as possible to gain a clearer view on how Pagans view marriage and relationships.

You may take the survey here. The link is in the box on the upper left.  Mr. Hall asks that you pass on this survey to any Pagan groups or persons that you know.

Patheos Begins Series on Wicca

Patheos, whom Newsweek Magazine just listed as the website to read to be smarter about religion, is running a series on Wicca in the Pagan Portal during the month of January. This is part of a monthly focus on different Pagan traditions in 2011.

Every Monday and Friday in January Star Foster, Pagan Portal Manager, will ask a different question about Wicca. Responses to the first question – What makes someone Wiccan? – are already on the site.  Many well-known practitioners within Wicca are participating and readers are invited to send in their 250-500 word responses as well.  Below is a taste of what the series is like.

PNC-Minnesota – a year of growth – Editorial

From cocyeabroomstick.blogspot.com

PNC-Minnesota began about five months ago (we had five initial posts in July). We believe we have had a substantial impact within our community, region, and nationally.  Our readership is mainly Pagan, but our audience ranges the whole spectrum based on subject. We have had just over 99,000 page views since we began on July 28th, 2010

Our top viewed post with 12, 542 views in one day on Nov. 9th, (   Rape Survivor Devastated by TSA Enhanced Pat Down by Cara Schulz ), has completely skewed our stats, but that is the nature of the internet.   Cara saw an emerging issue, and knew the additional impact it could have for victims of assault and jumped on the story. National blogs (including mainstream news like ‘Newsweek‘ and even Wikipedia ) linked to her article and resulted in that one post generating 84% of our page views this year!  Cara’s past media experience and her  ‘nose for news’ that she brought to PNC-Minnesota has been invaluable. Cara also writes for PNC’s Pagans and Politics.
