Community Notes; October 24-30

We’re coming up on Samhain. There’s no shortage of activities next weekend, each with their own take on this transitional time of year, but many of us will be celebrating the same holiday at the same time. It will be a weekend of great magick.

Kari Tauring has a couple events this Tuesday. Kari is one of those amazing people we have locally. She is such an expert on Norse traditions that Norwegians have actually flown her over there to teach them about stuff. And we have her locally all the time. Really, every time she does anything, the house should be packed. She is amazing and we are lucky to have such easy access to this noteworthy expert. http://karitauring.com/

Heather Dale will be in concert this Friday at the Sacred Paths Center. Check it out at http://sacredpathscenter.givezooks.com/events/heather-dale-in-concert

The TransSpirit Council will convene in the Twin Cities October to create ceremony, learn, share and teach together around the focus of creating and supporting healthy communities for Queer, Trans, and Gender Queer children.
7pm Friday, October 28: Opening Address in St Paul
4pm Saturday, October 29: Inanna Ritual
1pm Sunday, October 30: writing workshop and Talking Circle

The rapture has been predicted for this Friday. That’s always interesting.

There’s a new survey about the future of the Sacred Paths Center, Paganistan’s very own community center. It’s still the only Pagan community center in the nation. It really says something wonderful about our community that we have our own community center, five metaphysical shops, and events every day. The Sacred paths Center is a monument to how special Paganistan is. If you would like to participate, please visit http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=b06cVNMIWoGAcf22nznkzA_3d_3d

The best way to receive Paganistan Weekly is to join the group at http://www.facebook.com/groups/TwinCitiesPagans/. If you are set to receive emails from this group, then the newsletter will be sent directly to your inbox.

There’s a very interesting workshop next weekend. Growing and Nurturing Sustainable Communities of Beauty, Balance and Delight, A Workshop Open to Folks from all Traditions and Communities: Paganistan, Minnesota, October 14, 15 & 16, 2011.

There’s a rumor that Coldwater Spring might be closed to the public for a year, starting next month. Coldwater Spring is one of the great sacred sites of Paganistan.

Local Heathens have purchased a building to use as a hof. You can read about it here.

Community Notes; October 3-9

Please help: this Saturday is the next Upper Midwest Pagan Alliance Highway Cleanup. Join us October 8 at 1pm at The Central Bank; 7111 21st Avenue, Centerville, MN. For more information, check: http://umpaganalliance.com/schedule.shtml

There is a new movie which you might not want to pay to watch, and might want to encourage other to not pay to see it either. “The Grey” shows wolves as aggressive hunters and killers, especially toward humans, which is not true. In fact, wolves almost always avoid humans, even leaving prey if a human approaches.

Eye of the Boar Coven will be offering energy healing circles the Second Saturday of the month from 7-9pm at the Eye of Horus, starting this Saturday, for free, although donations for space rental will be cheerfully accepted.

The Sacred Paths Center’s annual Silent Auction and Pie Social is about a week away: Monday, October 10, from 6-10pm. There’s still time to donate items for the auction or pies for the social. http://www.sacredpathscenter.org/?page_id=429
